August was all about shipping a major Core Node release and hardening the path to Native BTC ready infrastructure. This milestone prepares Testnet for the September 30 fork, adds beta Trezor support, and clears the runway for upcoming wallet and Token Factory releases. Here’s what changed and what’s next:
Core Node v1.1.0 - Release
Download: https://www.mintlayer.org/download
Testnet hard fork (action required)
- Fork date: September 30, 2025
- What’s inside: order-handling improvements and security upgrades
- Operators: upgrade to v1.1.0 before the fork to stay on correct chain
Trezor hardware wallet support (Beta)
- Now possible: store ML on a Trezor (with custom firmware)
- Limitations: custom firmware reduces physical-access security; works with node-gui and wallet-cli only (not Trezor Suite or Mojito yet)
- Recommendation: use a dedicated Trezor just for Mintlayer
Usability improvements
Wallet-CLI
- Staking pools: new optional params for staking-create-pool (staker address & VRF public key) enable safer setups (coins on hardware wallet; staking from a hot wallet)
- Address management: address-show gains --include-change to list all addresses (incl. change)
Node-GUI
- Network selection: specify testnet/mainnet right in the launch command (handy for multiple nodes/data dirs)
- Logging: logs now written to a subfolder inside the data directory for easier troubleshooting
Token Factory
- Status: in beta testing; public release targeted for the coming months.
Mojito Wallet - Browser Extension
- Next features - Coming Soon:
- Addresses page for simpler address management
- BTC HD wallet enhancements: multiple receive/change addresses; smarter UTXO selection for optimized fees
- Addresses page for simpler address management
Wrapping Up
With v1.1.0 out, the network is set for the Testnet fork and a smoother path to mainnet feature integration. Wallet upgrades, and Token Factory testing continue to round out the ecosystem.
