The podcast we’re breaking down this week is from “The Charlie Shrem Show” EP446:
AI Meets Bitcoin in Singapore and Why the U.S. Is Back in the Game
Crypto is entering a more grounded phase that was the clear throughline in Charlie Shrem’s recent conversation with Jesse Darnell, founder of ADVXNCE Protocol. Fresh off Token2049 in Singapore, Jesse frames where the energy is shifting, why the United States is re-entering the conversation, and how AI is colliding with blockchain to open new lanes for builders and investors.
One of Jesse’s core ideas is simple and powerful: strong communities mature into real economies. In his words, “Not many other companies outside of crypto really build communities the way that we do. It’s starting now but there is a big wave of founder led community building. But what crypto really taught me is that communities can become economies.” This is the operating system for projects that last.
US Regulatory Environment is Improving
For years, regulatory fog pushed talent and capital offshore. Jesse argues the tide is turning. “It’s exciting now for sure with everything going back to a state of reality… we were almost pushing out that innovation and now it’s exciting that we get to do it in our own home.” He points to the growing number of U.S. jurisdictions engaging with digital assets and a renewed willingness from large institutions to participate. The question he poses is practical: beyond the exchanges everyone knows, who will step up and make a durable impact on U.S. soil?
AI meets blockchain, and VCs are watching
Another theme Jesse returns to is capital formation. The attention cycle moved from ICOs to NFTs to memes. Useful, but noisy. “I think now that we are getting back to the really traditional side of implementing enterprise value and VCs are excited again. Because crypto really is here to stay.” The catalyst, he says, is the merge of AI with blockchain. The result is a flow of investment toward products that solve specific problems with auditable infrastructure. “There is a big push on where money is coming into right now with AI mixing in with blockchain. It’s really merging those VCs.”
Hot takes
- Communities are not marketing channels. They are the economic backbone. Treat them like stakeholders, not spectators.
- The U.S. is opening up again. Use regulatory clarity where it exists to build responsibly and at speed.
- AI plus blockchain is not a buzzword if it improves discovery, risk, or operations. Anchor it to real outcomes and measurable value.
Quote for the road
“I think now that we are getting back to the really traditional side of implementing enterprise value and VCs are excited again. Because crypto really is here to stay.”
If you are a founder, operator, or investor mapping your next move, this is a timely listen. It is optimistic without being naive, and tactical without being narrow.
